Become a Friend of UBW

Keano

I am a mother of 4 and currently studying at Adelphi University to receive my Master's degree in Social Work. I enjoy fundraising and advocating for children.

Ernest Alfred (dad). Although Keano is his step son, he sees him as his own son and treats him the same like all good loving fathers do. He is a full time student at Dutchess Community College studying Criminal Justice with his goal of working as an Insurance Investigator. He enjoys playing basketball, softball, and cooking. Ernst also finds the time to coach Keano's basketball teams.

Keano Munoz (14). Our son is currently starting his freshman year of high school. He was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma when he was in 6th grade. He endured 36 rounds of chemotherapy and 31 treatments of radiation to his ankle. Thankfully the tumor was removed. He enjoys music, basketball, baseball, Tae Kwon Do, and other outdoor activities. He is very much involved in fundraising with our family. Keano helped start a toy drive last year that collected over 300 toys for sick kids during the holidays. He is part of the Wish Choir for Maria Ferari Children's Hospital at Westchester Medical Center in which he sings to raise funds for the hospital. He was also named "prince of the iPod program" for an organization called "Heather on Earth” where they provide music therapy and iPods to children in many NYC area hospitals. Keano has been a big support to other children that have been diagnosed with cancer. Keano is currently in remission; it will be 2 years this November.

Destinae Alfred(8.) She is currently in Third grade. She is very bright and enjoys Tae Kwon Do, girl scouts, talent shows, gardening, and softball. If you can't find her working on one of her many talents, most times she is somewhere quiet and reading a book. She also loves animals and dreams of being a veterinarian when she grows up. Destinae is also part of the Wish Choir for Maria Ferari Children's hospital at Westchester Medical Center.

Trinitae Alfred (6, twin). She is currently in First grade. She loves playing with her friends and helping out with chores around the house when she is not involved with her Tiny Tigers program at Tae Kwon Do. Trinitae enjoys gardening, riding bikes, and swimming. She also is part of the Wish Choir for Maria Ferari Children's hospital at Westchester Medical Center.

Exzavier Alfred (6, twin). The twin of Trinitae is also enrolled in the First grade. He loves playing with his friends and enjoys many types of video games (what kid doesn’t!). He also loves his dog, Shaggy, and the same Tiny Tigers program that his twin sister devotes her time to as well. Exzavier enjoys playing with cars, riding bikes, and swimming. He also is part of the Wish Choir for Maria Ferari Children's hospital at Westchester Medical Center.
